Nigeria draw 2-2 with Italy in cracking friendly match

The just concluded friendly match in London between Nigeria and Italy turned out to be a mouth watering encounter as the two teams met for the second time in history, the first dating back to USA '94 world cup which Italy painfully worn, well it seemed the Nigerians didn't forget about that day as they came out brimming against the Italians.

Italy took the lead in the 12th minute. Mario Balotelli set up Guiseppe Rossi, to lift the ball over Austin Ejide. The African champions proved not just to be a walk in the park as they fought back to take the lead in the 35th minute, Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi found Bright Dike in the area and he headed in the equaliser. It was Ameobi who gave his side the lead, stabbing home a cross from the left.

Two minutes after the break, the Azurris hauled themselves into game, as Sunderland’s Emanuele Giaccherini found acres of space in the area to tuck the ball under Ejide.

Italy began to get a strangehold of the game, especially with the introduction of Andrea Pirlo and threatened to take the lead again. But Keshi’s men eventually overturned the tide and almost grabbed a late winner.
